The Top Five Places Bacteria Hides in Your Office (and what AEIGS Microbe Shield can do about it)

Bacteria are single celled microbes and can be found on every region of the Earth. Undeterred by rock, water and even artic snow, bacteria thrives wherever organic matter is found. Most bacteria is harmless; in fact many are helpful for fermentation, digestion and nutrient cycling. There are, however, some bacteria that should be avoided at all costs – and many of them are hiding in your office.

Five places where bacteria likes to hide

  • The sink handle in your office kitchen: When researchers for a Kimberly-Clark Professional study swabbed 4,800 office surfaces from a variety of industries, they unanimously agreed that sink handles are the top breeding ground for bacteria.
  • The microwave handle: You have been told to microwave your dishcloths to kill bacteria, but the handle itself is one of the filthiest places in your office. Don’t forget to give the handle, not just the inside, a good clean.
  • Keyboards: With people snacking at their desk and touching their keyboard right after opening doors, it’s no wonder that keyboards rank third in Kimberly-Clark’s dirty study.
  • Refrigerator handles: Handles again! This time the fridge is the culprit. Twenty-six percent of fridge handles in the survey had the potential to make people sick.
  • Water fountains: While the fountains themselves were in varying states of cleanliness, the button to get the water is another bacteria breeding ground.

There is a clear theme here. The dirtiest surfaces are the ones that are touched by the most hands – even though those surfaces, such as areas of the kitchen, should be the cleanest. You can clean these surfaces, but a more efficient way keep bacteria at bay is to use AEGIS Microbe Shield™

Why AEGIS?

AEGIS has enjoyed worldwide application since its creation in 1976. Unlike sanitizers, disinfectants and bleach, AEGIS does not just wipe away germs and bacteria. When applied, this amazing technology forms a charged polymer that bonds to surface material. You don’t see a physical difference, but each treated surface is physically changed to repel harmful bacteria.

The unique chemical structure of AEGIS (3-trimethoxysilylpropyloctade-cyldimethyl ammonium chloride) makes it incredibly durable and able to adhere to almost any surface. For most areas, an annual application is more than sufficient to keep germs at bay and employees healthier.

When you use AEGIS in your office, you are dramatically reducing the occurrence and spread of bacteria. Imagine less sick days and more productivity! Instead of a cold or flu affecting your staff, you can come to work confident that your environment is clean, safe and under the 24-hour protection of AEGIS.
